No More Sassy Cat

Cope is our little sassy cat. he likes to pretend that he is a cat....he has multiple personalities, sassy which is the funniest! such an attitude, you have no idea! he crawls around and swipes his paws at you and meows but its more like a growl...its ridiculous! well with all this crazy hair "sassy cat" has stuck as a nickname and it fits him! well not anymore....we went to get a haircut because the curls had to go. they were tangled and mangled...hard to wash all that soap out and he is a slightly sweaty child, so it was a little gross at times. it got to the point, every morning i had to spray detangler amongst the dreads and fight to calm them down.
now he looks like a little boy. he grew up over night.its a little sad, but he is almost two. he no longer looks like an oversized baby with a lot of hair running around, but a little two year old trying to keep up with brother. its amazing what a haircut will do to a child.....

Can I get an extra hand????

when eli was little he did everything with me, i mean everything. we did laundry together, we cleaned together,we cooked together....everything! he has always been my little shadow, my little helper, always wanting to lend a hand. he is still the same way. he lets me know when the dryer is done and pulls out the clothes, he puts up his laundry, he will always go get the dust pan for me, or bring me a paper towel or a napkin, does anyone need a napkin?eli will get it....
last week eli started k-3. i cried. cope cried-all three days. we were a little lost the first day. we did really random stuff. i have never been alone with my second child as much as i have in the last two weeks. cope was a little lost, not really knowing what to do with out following big brother.
two weeks are done and cope has a good handle on what he can do....whatever he wants with no interruptions....whatever he wants to play and however he wants to play it. he can sit where he wants, he can lay down a toy and come back and get it....and he has mommy's full attention.
but is he a helper.....no. will he go get the dust pan for me.....no. paper towel....no. does he want to help me sweep with his little broom.....no. dust with me.....no. do you need a napkin?....get it yourself, cope is busy.
is he busy talking to me....no- to himself. is he involving me in his adventure in imagination land he is going on.....no. i have to invite myself. i could probably leave the house and he would not notice....until he needed something to drink. he is a very thirsty child. he sat on the couch with his vacuum, while i vacuumed the house and complained it was too loud.
isnt it strange how different two children could be, now i am not complaining... i love my children dearly and i am so super proud of eli for going off to school, it was definitely time.
i cherish my time with cope (even though i must stop spoiling him before it gets me in trouble), but i never realized he was so independent until mr. Dependant left the house.

this would be cope putting the move son ellison for a goodbye kiss

Our New Addition

So I think almost everyone knows by now that we are having a third child....and if not, well we are and we are due December 31st. We wanted the sex to be a surprise...we tried the same thing with Cope and the technician "accidentally" told us it was a boy.
We recently went for our 20 week ultrasound, the baby is healthy, all the fingers and toes are accounted for along with major body organs. We also saw the sex of the baby. It was apparent. Not shy at all. So for those who cant tell in the ultrasound picture, its a boy. We are experts at this by now, i have this same picture for both the other kids :-) So a third boy it is, we are going to name him Jack Daeland.....I am officially out numbered in the house! I guess if we ever get a dog it will be girl....
For those who have never seen the 3-D ultra sound, it is interesting to say the least....a little creepy in a good way, but still very strange. maybe because i have never seen one before or maybe because it really makes the child inside of you so real....which is strange to say because i know he is real and i feel his kicks and punches and they are real, but you cross a line when you go from a 2-d ultrasound that looks like an x-ray to a 3-d ultrasound that looks real...so i thought i would share the image. you have to keep in mind he is only 5 months old in the picture, no fat is on the body, he only weighs 12 ounces.

Monday Night TV

So on monday nights jeff works until 11:00pm....so we only see him for about an hour at dinner then he is out the door. well to give myself a small break after the long and exhausting weekend, i let the kids watch dora and diego before bedtime, which they love and think is very special (and yes it would be wonder pets but it comes on to late) so i usually take this time to do laundry, clean the house, do dishes, pick up toys....etc. its amazing what you can do in an hour when your kids are entertained. well now my new thing is sewing shorts for the boys....so for an hour on monday nights i listen to the kids yelling answers, usually in spanish at the tv and running back and forth pointing at the pictures to answer the million questions asked....while i make them shorts.

School Shopping...

I cant believe that my first born is about to go to K-3 in 16 days...i have spent almost everyday of his life with him and now the school sends out announcements about field trips?how i am suppose to handle that, the thought of other adults taking my child out into public and being responsible for them?its all so nerve racking yet exciting at the same time! some days i am so excited and think of him being out of the house...all of 4 hours, 3 times a week...other days i get so sad thinking about him leaving. so went school shopping to get him in the spirit, he is a little nervous.we bought a new backpack and he picked the coolest one out....wonder pets! of course cope had to get one too...handy manny and the tools. they have not parted with these bags since we bought them. they go to the bathroom with them, we took them to the mall, the store, the pool and when they go to sleep tonight the bags will be propped beside their beds...eli's bag is full of fun school stuff, which he thinks is super cool...glue(a stick and drippy wet kind), paper(manilla and letter practicing),colored pencils, crayons and the best of all scotch tape! he can play school when every and where ever he gets the urge....so the question of the week is...."mom when are you gonna tell me its time to go to school"? so eager to leave us.....
